CREDENTIALS

Born in Bombay, India, Dr. Deo lost his sister to Leukemia at a young age. It was this loss that directed him to becoming a doctor to help cancer patients. He completed his M.D. from the University of Bombay at the age of 21 and moved to New York in 1970. He trained in Internal Medicine at The Jamaica Hospital, New York and in Hematology
at New York Medical College. Dr. Deo arrived at Long Beach in 1974 where he did his Fellowship in Hematology-Oncology at the U.C.Irvine.

Dr. Deo is board certified in Internal Medicine (1975) with subspecialty certifications in Hematology (1976) and Medical Oncology (1977). He was awarded Fellowship in the American College of Physicians in 1987.He is Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at the U.C.Irvine. He was the Director of the American Cancer Society, Long Beach Harbor division and Chairman of their Health Systems Committee.

Dr. Deo was the Principal Investigator for the National Breast Cancer Prevention Trial at Long Beach Community Medical Center, a study conduced by NSABP and sponsored by the National Cancer Institute. He is a member of all local and national professional organizations in his field including ASCO (American Society of Clinical Oncology), ASH (American Society of Hematology), AMA (American Medical Association), American College of Physicians/American Society of Internal Medicine, California Medical Association and LA County Medical Association.
